PrimaDonna bras are made from high-quality and sustainable materials that require the right care and attention. Hand-washing is always the best option, but it’s not always possible. That’s why we've created a step-by-step guide for safely machine-washing your lingerie!
Step-by-step plan 1 – Hand-washing your bras
Hand-washing your bras is without a doubt the best way to care for your lingerie. The advantages: Your bras will retain their elasticity, making them last longer and keep their shape longer. Ready for the perfect wash?
Step 1 - Sort your bras by color. Try to wash similar colors together. Avoiding mixing darks and lights.
Step 2 - Fill a bucket with warm water and add some gentle detergent. Make sure the detergent is alcohol-free and intended for hand-washing.
Step 3 - Use your hand to mix the detergent into the water until it foams.
Step 4 - Add your bras to the water and make sure they are fully submerged.
Step 5 - Let your bras soak for ten to fifteen minutes. This gives the detergent enough time to dissolve any dirt. If your bra is very dirty, allow to soak for up to an hour.
Step 6 - Rinse your bras in the water to loosen any dirt. The water should start to get pretty dark!
Step 7 - Pour out the dirty water and rinse your bras in clean water. Repeat several times until the water is clear.
Step 8 - If you haven’t washed your bras in a while or if you were particularly sweaty, you may want to give them a second hand-wash.
Step 9 - Lay your rinsed bras on a towel and cover with a second towel. Press to remove excess water. Never wring or squeeze!
Step 10 - Push the cups into place and lay your bras flat on a clean, dry towel. Never hang your bras from the straps! This stretches them out.
Step-by-step plan 2 – Machine-washing your bras
There are more things to do in life than wash your bras. Cooking, grocery shopping, working, kids, hobbies – the list goes on and on. That's why most women throw their bras in the washing machine. There’s nothing wrong with that, assuming you follow our step-by-step plan!
Step 1 - Hook the backs of your bras to prevent them from damaging other garments.
Step 2 - Wash your bras in a protective laundry bag. This prevents them from getting tangled up with other items. A laundry bag also protects your bras from rougher garments.
Step 3 - Wash your bras with similar colors: Whites with whites, lights with lights, darks with darks. Why? Mixing colors could cause your clothing to stain or fade.
Step 4 - Consider washing your bras with fabrics of similar weight. Jeans and towels weigh more than lingerie. Wash your bras with T-shirts, briefs, socks, and pajamas to prevent damage.
Step 5 - Hot water weakens bra fibers and bra straps. Always use a gentle detergent and wash bras at 30 °C or cooler.
Step 6 - Is the cycle over? Push the cups into place and lay your bras flat on a clean, dry towel. Allow them to air-dry.
